A Happy life = Long life.

Monday is not supposed to be terrible as some people put it to be.a huge number of people who work office jobs are dissatisfied with their jobs, and after a long weekend Monday reminds them of another week doing what they hate for a boss who doesn’t appreciate them.studies have shown that Monday holds the highest number of suicides among people who work in jobs that don’t motivate them. Joseph Campbell the famous scholar of mythology gave the 12 steps to fulfilment in which one of the steps was to not base your decisions on financial gain. While getting a salary is important sacrificing your happiness for money as to big a trade. Joseph Campbell says that the same vase made by a porter who loves what he does and by one who hates who hates his job is that one has a soul.

Good Leaders? No Thank You

Democracy, transparency, equality, diligence and many other good words, were the epitome of governance. Those were the days when Martin Luther King Jr.
meant something to our leaders since they would at least pick quotes from his speeches. Then came the days when quoting the Luthers of this world became old school, or at least our leaders felt so. Several decades down the line and now came the new generation leaders and you will be surprised at how they have revolutionised the game. They not only pick quotes from great orators but the whole speech. Yeah, they pick the whole speech.
You may be forgiven to think that this only happens in countries experiencing a midlife crisis with their democracies but if you look closely, maybe you are right. Take for instance the Ghanaian situation. This is a mature democracy – at least going by African standards. These guys held a free, fair and transparent election. Free, fair and transparent. I had to repeat that because in Africa the only thing that can be transparent is, well nothing is transparent. Back to Ghana. After the elections, I was eagerly waiting for the incumbent to pull a Gambia – where the incumbent concedes defeat then after a day or two, he realises Mugabe is still in power so why quit yet you don’t have to – he didn’t.
President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo (I hope I got the name right) was the new kid on the leadership block, but as we say, same animals just different forests. Truth be told, I liked him and even rooted for him during the electioneering period. I mean, every sensible African did. The fact that he didn’t take long to disappoint me didn’t really come as a disappointment to me. I mean, I was one person who was made to believe a president could build FIVE states of the art stadiums, offer post – kindergarten kids laptops and to top it all create a booming economy pegged on a budget of slightly above twenty billion dollars a year.
Why hasn’t anyone whispered to these leaders that if you want to copy a speech, don’t do it the Trump way?
You never pick an English speech and put it out in English. Why not pick a speech from somewhere in China or Mongolia and have it translated to English? Very few people will have time to counter-check its authenticity. Trust me on that. You just don’t pick Clinton’s speech word for word and hope no one will notice. We will. Am not really in support of plagiarism but then again I understand how hard it is to come up with a speech more so if the speech is meant to be full of empty promises.
All in all, I look forward (yeah, I know we are in 2017) to the day our leadership will not only be about well pampered speeches to only fill our ears but rather an action statement. I don’t know for how long I will keep on hoping for the best but I will assume the glass is half full and just hope it will be very soon.
